CHARCOAL ANIMATION

︎︎︎Animation | Drawing | Sound Design

Deliverables:
︎︎︎ 1 Motion Animation: “Strike” 1:37 seconds
Created With:
︎︎︎ Charcoal, BFK Rives iPhone, Final Cut Pro

Culminating my second semester at RISD, this animation piece was an exploration of using a fairly familiar tool  (charcoal) in a completely new way. After several trial runs and experimentation, I settled on a singular aesthetic and concept exploring the effect on weather in shaping an environment.

NIGHT AND DAY HANDDRAWN ANIMATION

︎︎︎Animation | Sound Design

Deliverables:
︎︎︎ 1 Motion Animation: “Night and Day” 35 seconds
Created With:
︎︎︎Adobe Fresco, After Effects

As an avid lover of music and animation, I was inspired to bring the two together in a unique and creative way. My passion for both led me to create a hand-drawn video animation for the song Night and Day.

SLEEPY TOWN ANIMATION

︎︎︎Animation | Sound Design

Deliverables:
︎︎︎ 1 Motion Animation
Created With:
︎︎︎Adobe Illustrator, After Effects

This experimental short animation uses multiplane layers in After Effects to create a parallax effect. It depicts a quiet, sleepy town at night, with the camera moving through the streets to showcase illuminated buildings and objects. The animation captures the peaceful and dreamy atmosphere of a small town at night while demonstrating creative techniques in After Effects.

TYPOGRAPHIC ANIMATION

︎︎︎Animation | Typography|

Deliverables:
︎︎︎ 1 Motion Animation: “Strike” 1:37 seconds
Created With:
︎︎︎After Effects, Final Cut Pro

After creating a poster series based around lyrics from Joni Mitchell songs, I was tasked with designing a singular animation which captured the essence of the series. This animation seeks to capture the songs sonic and lyric qualities through visuals.

NOISE ANIMATIONS
︎︎︎Animation | Sound Design

Deliverables:
︎︎︎2 Motion Animations: “Tune it Out” 37 seconds, “Last Train Home” 39 seconds
Created With:
︎︎︎ Final Cut Pro, Illustrator

After identifying noise and soundscape composition as something which interested me, I developed two short motion pieces which attempted to explore these topics. This project involved a good deal of research regarding sound as a medium as well as establishing a concrete visual aesthetic.
